Maintaining the SCMP Designation

SCMPs are expected to undertake continuous professional development to maintain a level of competency and current knowledge. This is essential to upholding the credibility of the designation. Designated professionals must have the knowledge, skills and attributes to surpass customer expectations throughout their careers.

BC Institute PMAC requires that SCMPs obtain 30 maintenance credits every three years. The types of activities that qualify include continuing education (e.g. taking courses or seminars) profession leadership (e.g. sitting on a Board or Committee), instruction, presentation, writing and research.

A process for recording, reporting and verification ensures compliance.

As Premier of the Province of British Columbia, I would like to congratulate the BC Institute of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada as you prepare to launch the redesigned Strategic Supply Chain Management Leadership Program in BC.

I understand that this improved three year accreditation program is a leader in its field in Canada, and that successful graduates will be highly trained in consulting, operations, logistics and transportation.
